Cockroaches are one of the most frustrating pest problems to have and one of the most concerning. There’s nothing quite like opening your cabinet to find a cockroach standing on your dinner plates. Luckily, when it comes to treating cockroaches in Pasadena, Texas, there’s one company you can count on – Big Dave’s!

However, if you’re not quite ready to call in the big guns, we’ll give you some tips and tricks to both kill and help prevent infestations.

Why do I have roaches in my house?

There are many ways roaches can enter your home. However, they only stay if there’s food, water, and shelter for them to live. This means that if you have them, you have all three in some combination.

How did I get them?

You can get cockroaches in so many ways. First, they can enter your house simply by walking in via cracks under the doors, open windows, etc. You can also have the eggs brought into your home on a piece of used furniture. It’s also common for them to enter via pipes.

Roaches are everywhere at all times. And there are a million ways you can get them so it’s impossible to predict how you got/will get them. That’s why it’s important to have measures in place to kill any roaches that do get into your house as well as to make sure you’re not providing them with a safe place to live (i.e. food, water, and shelter).

How do you get rid of cockroaches?

When it comes to getting rid of cockroaches, there are several methods you can apply. Below we’ll cover them both…

Method one:

This is the DIY approach where you find the problem areas and items like leaking pipes, food sources, nesting sites, etc. then you treat those areas and continue monitoring the sites.

To do this method, you’ll need to go through your home both inside and outside to find any place that they could enter. Keep in mind that they can enter through extremely small cracks. Everywhere you find a crack, seal it up with caulk. Additionally, you need to install door sweeps and ensure your windows are properly sealed. Also, make sure your window screens are installed properly so pests can’t enter around the edges.

Once you’ve sealed the house, place bait stations in high traffic areas, behind cupboards, etc. and then spray an invisible barrier around your entire house. You can also use boric acid powder throughout your home/yard which is highly deadly to roaches.

Method two:

By far the easiest way to deal with roaches is to simply give us a call. We can put invisible barriers in place that kill the roaches and last for 90+ days. And if you sign up for our year-round pest protection plan, we keep your home free from all other common pests at the same time. Further, if you find roaches, we come back and spray again at no additional cost to you.

How can I prevent a further infestation?

Preventing future infestations requires a multi-pronged approach. First, you want to make sure you’re not providing them with the basics of food, water, and shelter. So go around your house and seal up any broken pipes. Next, make sure your trash can lids are on tight and there are not piles of trash around the yard. Then make sure to seal up your windows, cracks in walls, and install door sweeps. Finally, either place bait stations and spray around your house or call a pro to handle this for you.

Where can I find them nesting?

If you’re not totally sure if you have roaches, you can see about locating nesting sites. Their nests are often found in dark areas like behind refrigerators, under cabinets, in crawl spaces, and other dark areas where they’re not likely to be disturbed. If you need professional roach control in Pasadena, Texas, give us a call today!
